I saw this at one of my favourite parenting sites, Sorta Crunchy, and decided to play because you know how I Love me some books.

Books that have changed the way I. . .

think about marriage: Sex God by Rob Bell

think about politics: God's Politics: Why the Right Gets it Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It by Jim Wallis

appreciate Christian spirituality and the personal essay: Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller and The Shack by William P. Young and The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne

view the writing process: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott

mother: The Baby Book by Dr. Sears and Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel

go about my daily work: The Message Bible paraphrased by Eugene Peterson and He Loves Me! by Wayne Jacobsen and The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard and The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs and The Creative Family by Amanda Soule... (and now I'll stop...)

Other favourites that don't fit a category:

The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning

Your Best Birth and The Business of Being Born

The Passion of Mary-Margaret by Lisa Samson

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver (Okay....may need to do a whole other post about fiction. Mercy.)

GIRL. I could go on and on and on, too! I have problems. Good kind of problems, I suppose!

I had not heard of the Simple Living Guide. Where have I been? Must look into.

I've wanted to read Sex God forever. It's one of many in my Amazon cart.

I adore Brennan Manning and I almost included Ruthless Trust on today's list in a new category. I just made up those categories, by the way. I mean, the original blogger had some categories for hers, but they didn't fit for me, so I made up new ones.

Great post! We have so much in common. Thanks for sharing!

I'm taking Polishing The Petoskey Stone to China with me! Also The Crime of Living Cautiously. Can't make it without Luci Shaw!

Loved Blue Like Jazz. I've just recently gotten into reading the Message version and it's changing the way I think about the Bible.

Have you read The Myth of a Christian Nation by Greg Boyd? If not, you might enjoy it. It's mostly referring to the US political system but I thought the underlying ideas for politics were so so different than the mainstream christian view ( in a good way!)

I share a lot in common with your list! After seeing Sorta Crunchy's I made a mental note to do a list of my own and you have just made me want to even more. Wait for it...
